Board of Trustees


Professor Colin Dayan   MA, MBBS, PhD, MRCP
(Chairman of the Board of Trustees)

Professor Dayan has been working with TEDct for over 10 years now.  He stepped down from his Chairmanship of the Committee at the end of 2009 though he has stayed on the Board and is still plays an active part in the organisation’s affairs.  He is also an Honorary Consultant Advisor to TEDct.  Professor Dayan is currently Professor of Clinical Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at University Hospital, Cardiff.

Miss Gill Adams  BSc, MBchB, FRCS, FRCOphth

Miss Adams is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with an interest in thyroid eye disease.  She practises at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr Paul Cauchi MBBS, FRCOphth

Dr Cauchi is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based in Glasgow at the Gartnavel and Southern General Hospitals. He has a special interest in thyroid eye disease.

Mr Jimmy Uddin MA, FRCOphth

Mr Uddin is the Chairman of the Committee of TEDct as well as being on the Board of Trustees.  He is a Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon practising at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Mrs Lin Welch

Mrs Welch has been a member of TEDct for many years and has given her time to the valuable work of being our Telephone Helpline Co-ordinator. She attends conferences and seminars which spread the word about TEDct and its work. Lin has been a TED patient since 1994 and has received both medical and surgical treatments over the years.

Mrs Liz Baister

Mrs Baister trained as a pharmacist and became interested in thyroid eye disease during her working days. Since retirement she has given her time to TEDct and currently organises our Patient Information Meetings.

Mrs Sue Devine - Mrs Devine is our Newsletter Editor.

Mrs Maureen Fletcher

Mrs Fletcher worked in the NHS before retiring. She is Minutes Secretary to the Committee and Secretary to the Board of Trustees. She attends conferences and seminars on behalf of TEDct.

Mrs Paula Fogg

Mrs Fogg is Contracts, Services and Utilities Manager with the YMCA. She offers administrative and project support to the Charity and liaises with Dr Helen Garrott on the working of the Website. Paula has suffered from TED since 1998 and has had several different surgical procedures successfully completed. She assists with the telephone helpline and is happy to chat to those who need to talk about their experiences.

Dr Helen Garrott

Helen Garrott is a consultant ophthalmologist based at Bristol Eye Hospital. She has a special interest in thyroid eye disease, oculoplastic and orbital surgery. She provides medical advice to the committee and to patients through Questions and Answers and works on the Website with Mrs Fogg.

Dr Andrew Goodwin

Mr Goodwin is an accountant in the NHS. He is our Treasurer.

Mrs Jill Thompson

Mrs Thompson is Membership Secretary and also attends to emails sent to TEDct. She had thyroid eye disease in 2004 which was followed by Double Decompression and Strabismus surgery.

Dr Bijay Vaidya PhD, MBBS, FRCP

Dr Vaidya is a Consultant Endocrinologist based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He answers queries and letters from patients and other interested parties and contributes to the general working of the organisation.
